Banded Poles and Posts, 2011-13

Corey Daniels Gallery
Wells, Maine

Corey Daniels Gallery is located in Wells, ME. The gallery exhibits a synthesis of found art and objects along with the creations of emerging and mid-career contemporary artists working in diverse practices. The Gallery consists of a colonial home and a large restored barn connected by a beautiful contemporary building. The grounds of the gallery are expansive. My work has been shown within the gallery space twice. The Banded Posts and Banded Poles that were installed in 2011 and 2013 presented an interesting challenge of how best to make a large statement with the most minimal of materials. Both sculptures were exhibited within 30 feet of heavily traveled US Route 1. Headed north on Route 1, motorists would see the fifteen-banded posts of Banded Posts/Wells 15 align into what appeared to be a single post at one point as they passed the gallery. Motorists headed both north and south, were witness to the momentary alignment of twenty-five of the fifty poles as they drove past the installation of Banded Poles/Wells 50.
